I wonder if they will give me a new riders licence? This one is from 1980... and I dont know how long it was valid...
Here is a little story book. My life has always been "horsy" and there are so many memories - also many more than this that never got captured. A special thanks to my dad who made this possible, he is the most patient man I know. We still share the same interest and own a part of a horse together. Today my husband share the same interest - he is handpicked as you understand... or maybe I am :-) My daughter Ida also loves horses and is a decent rider and horsehandler. See her pictures below. Also special thoughts to my beloved Prins (Promp) who I had from he was a baby and for almost 30 years. I think about you every day! Enjoy!
My dad - kids, dogs, horses.. they all love him. This is at his farm in Dalefjerdingen -around 1974. I remember he built different jumps on the fields for our training sessions.
My dad and Prins 1971. Askim Rideklubb
Pappa training Prins Promp - Askim 1971
My dads grandfather, my great grandpa! Here with the pride working horse at the farm ( I think I have been told. ) I will try to find what year
Mum helps with the young pony.
Askim Rideklubb - 1971/72
My ponys first certificate. We (my sister and I ) both got to choose names - but since we always argued about everything this is what happened. I chose Prins - and my sister as a rule did not agree of course.. :-) So then she said the name should be PROMP (and that means "fart"). Since my father is a very fair man - he insisted we both got our way... The poor pony was registered as Prins Promp - Prince Fart). The cost was 20 kroner in 1974 to register a horse.
My mum and og Cæsar. Trippestadbanen i 1971, Askim- Cæsar var sønn av Eufelia som sto på Ekeberg Rideskole. Mamma hadde Eddie Bull og Evy Lindrup som ridelærere, det husker jeg godt.
Mamma helps with Prins - my young pony. This is from 1971
My mum with her allround horse - a thoroughbread. He was used for dressage, driving and he was my first "big" show jumper. This is from the yearly excursion to Gjevik. Took about the whole day. We stayed for a a day - then back on sunday.
Mum (from Germany) in my grandmas garden. My grandma used the farm working horses for ice trotting in the winter. This must have been early sixties
Me and Prins 1972 - at the farm Gjevik in Dalefjerdingen
As long as they have four legs... Me and Tom Olsen... The farmer was not happy because his calves never reached the proper weight - they were to active...I made rope halters for them and I thought them how to be lead properly and jump fences. " I will loose meat money for this" the farmer said, but he was still a kind man so he let me have my will. Gjevik, Dalefjerdningen 71-72
We had wonderful summers. My sister, Prins and I playing and swimming in the lake by our farm. 1972-73
Training Tom Olsen - cowmanship - Summer 72 maybe.. Gjevik, Dalefjerdingen. By the way - I just loved my hat and wore it much. The day it was gone I was very, very sad and upset.
My very first competition. I think 1975, Spydeberg. Why I am bareback at the price giving? Well. As most ponys Prins loved food. The third fence had two bales of old straw as decoration.... Guess what happened. Exactly..Prins refused to jump the third obstacle. Normally you get disqualified for three stops - not only one.. but Prins did not move He decided to stay there and eat until "carried away" . I did not expect any price. But since the rider after me not even got over the first jump - and we were only three... I came in second. But I was already preparing to go home so it came as a surprise... therefore the bareback
A few years later - maybe 79- still my Prins. This is from Glava Cup - one of the very first years. Prins competed with the big horses - he could jump his own height - 1.37 m. We competetd up to what then was LB and LA. Amazing pony
Newspaper clip. Actually it says "first indoor pony competition in Norway" - long time ago. Must be early seventies.
More from newspapers. This picture is from a national at Dikemark in Asker. Every year ponyriders met for a threedays outdoor competiton, dressage, jump and eventing. Here I am starting to get to big for my pony and I started to pull my legs bakwards or they would touch the jump.
Newspaper. Prins developed into an excellent jumper and eventer. He won more than 70 first places - and as you can see he was used for a lot - driving, playmate etc.. I still miss him every day
Event at a race court, Momarken Travbane. Rubin and me in the middle
Rubin and I. Here he was approximatly 5 or 6 years old. I got him (my father...) from Denmark as a four year old. Thoroughbread/Thrakener. Was used for hunting. Developed into a good allround jumper. We (my dad)bought him, for about ten thousand norwegian kroners. He was then four years old. (I can still remember the first time I heard someone buy a horse that cost 100 000 NOK. ) Here he is maybe 6 Trippestad: Maybe 1980-82
Rubin and I - A national competiton in Askim my hometown. Trippestad 1980-81
Rubin and I - competition Askim late seventies
In Spain 2004 - me on the black horse. Temeramentful horses, ridden quiet differently from what I was used to.
Me, my daughter Ida on the white horse, and my little sister Camilla on the grey horse. In Spain
Another spanish guy! Her on my husbands horse Famoso PRE spanish mix. He is very young here - only three so we do slow, short rides.
Prins - here 25 years old..
Prins - here 2 years old. I am driving Prins and here the farmers kids Hans Christian an Birgitte are joining me. My dad thought it was very imporant to be versatile - so I had to drive a lot. Never liked it so much though...
He learned how to do jumps!! We had a lot of fun
Prins and Cæsar taking a bath. The farm. Dalefjerdingen 1970-73
Me and Mum taking a class with riding Instructor Sejersteen. Askim Rideskole 1972
I am driving the honoured member of our year of graduates.Russ 1983) I dont remember who of course.. We had been on (too) many nights of graduating parties and this was not a good moment for me.. National day, Askim 17 of may 1983 College Graduation year
When I went to agricultural school I also found some with four legs. This was "my" stallion trotter Flashing Pay. Never won one race but had a big heart. Mysen 1984
Rubin Fullblods / Trakhener
Grandma.
Mamma in Germany - this was in her young days - must have been in the sixties
Mamma at her ridingclub in Germany. Her riding teacher (probably) sitting on the horse.
Daughter Ida . Picture is fra Hallingdal. We lived there for a few years.
Daughter Ida getting lessons. Not from me. Mother teaching daughter never a good idea :-)
Ida
Ida - 2009
Siri, my little sister in front of Prins, me in the back. Prins grew up with us and he was like a familiy member. He lived until he was nearly 30 years old. The day I found him he just came from England where he was born free in a heird of welsh ponys. I was given the choise between him and a beautiful white pony a little older. But Prins looked so abandoned in his little stall , and I can clearly remember that he only had a little bowl of water. That little bowl was the reason i chose him. The horse had to have proper watering and feeding! :-) Prins costed 6000 kroner as a 9 months old, almost untouched pony.
Elin, me and Guri - on a "race" day. 1981?
Ida, daughter- 2009
My two (out of four) Princes today. Dan - number one prince - and Baby
Bork -My Norwegian draft horse - born 2004 in the mountains next to a little river under some trees. ... I was there.. Has a lot in common with my dear pony. So this is Prins II....
